Hi, friend. I’m Dana. I’m so glad you’re here.

I want to help you to find joy in your everyday life. That’s what we all want, right? To be able to quiet the noise of stress, burnout, and exhaustion.

As a mom of four kids ages six and under, I know what it feels like to struggle through the daily grind (dishes, diaper changes, drop offs, and that’s all before 9am)! When we moved to Bolingbrook in 2022 and I started being a stay-at-home-mom, it didn’t take long before I felt restless.

So I took the kids outside.

And we picked flowers.

Thankfully, the previous owner of our little house must have loved flowers. To my delight, the year after we moved it felt like every morning brought a new bloom!

And every morning when I would see a jar of fresh cut flowers in my kitchen, I felt a small yet powerful surge of joy, in and amongst all the dirty dishes and diapers and tantrums.

I never quite grasped what people were talking about when they said “self-care.” It used to seem a bit fluffy and frivolous to me.

Now I get it.

You can buy yourself flowers! You can prioritize yourself in small and practical ways that will have a big impact on your mood!

It really is the little things.

So, in 2024, I started Walton Family Flowers because everyone deserves to experience the joy of locally grown flowers.

When you bring home flowers from our micro flower farm, or have them delivered to your door, you will not only have a gorgeous centerpiece for your table (or other life-giving decorative element elsewhere in your home), but you will also connect with nature while indoors. You will support sustainable local environmental practices. You will have unique and delicate flowers that you cannot buy from the grocery store.

The imported flowers at the grocery store are devoid of fragrance, stick straight, uniform, boring, and doused with chemicals to travel here from faraway countries. They will not have the same natural and sensory effect as locally grown blooms (not to mention the environment impact...but you can read more about the Slow Flower moment here).

The point is: There’s a big disconnect between the flowers we put in our homes and the people who grew them, and nothing good comes from this disconnection and distance.

Walton Family Flowers exists so that you can have that jar of fresh cut flowers in your kitchen to brighten your morning. And you can know that they were picked yesterday. And grown right here in the Chicago suburbs.

You might have some stressful stuff going on. You are most likely exhausted.

AND! You can also be a person who has fresh-cut locally grown flowers delivered to your door. Or picked up from the farmer's market.
