Born and raised in Illinois, we have been a part of the Bolingbrook community since we purchased our first home in 2022, two months before our third child was born. We love it here. The spirit and diversity of this community is what makes it feel like home to us.

At some point in the previous like of our little house on Carlyle Lane, an owner must have loved flowers. To Dana’s great joy, the first year after we moved it felt like every morning brought us a new perennial bloom: lovely purple crocus poking out of the snow in late February, bright yellow daffodils in March, peachy-pink hyacinths and purple tulips in April, stunning peonies in the lightest shade of pink possible in May, and hydrangeas that seems to be boundless in their blooms all through the late spring and summer! Multiflora roses, clematis, and golden ragwort all made their appearance. More alliums than we knew what to do with! We fell in love with the lilies growing around the tree in our backyard, the echinacea (purple coneflowers) that were mature and healthy and enormous blooming all through the summer and into the fall all around our home. Dana got into the habit of cutting and creating arrangements to bring inside, and they filled our home with lots of joy…on both our good days and bad days (which with now four kids aged five and under…you can bet we have some of both!)

Realizing the happiness flowers can bring, the lack of locally grown flowers in our area, and the negative environment impact flowers traveling from across the world to florists and grocery stores has on our planet…Dana decided to turn what used to be a large patch of grass in our backyard into a flower mirco-farm. As huge of a garden as she could manage in which to grow as many unique and exciting flowers as she could (choosing Illinois or Midwest native varieties whenever possible)! Our goal is to spread happiness in our community through homegrown, seasonal arrangements inspired by the beautiful natural form of flowers, grown right in our backyard!
